Time: 2:00 to 3:30
Hank Wallace will
discuss:
Speak Like the
News: Inform, Persuade and Train About Plain Language
When you speak
about plain language, emulate reporters at their best. Highlights:
1. What to say:
Lead with the future (rather than with background). Speak your audience's
language. Inspire confidence. Capitalize on challenges, interruptions -- even
your own errors. Motivate your audience to commit to plain
language.
2. How to say it:
Relax your voice. Say it loud. Overcome "uptalk?" Pause before, and emphasize,
key words; speed through the rest. Pronounce each sound. Pronounce only the
sounds that are there!
